As a child, in 1938 Ludwig Rudel, a Holocaust refugee, came to the United States with his family from Austria. In 1969 after being married to his wife Joan for 7 years, Mr. Rudel came to North Cambria seeking a few acres of ground on which to build a summer cottage and finally found a farm near St. Lawrence that seemed just perfect.

As time moved on Mr. Rudel purchased another farm of equal acreage near Prince Gallitzin State Park. Mr. Rudel later discovered a parcel of ground of some 900 acres adjacent to the two farms that was for sale to the right development group. So with friends, he purchased the 900 acres known as the Rhody Tract for a year-round vacation land that they dubbed “Glendale Yearound”.
The Glendale Corporation, with Ludwig Rudel as President, planned to develop the property into a vacationland and the first phase began in 1972.

Founded in 1975 by Ludwig Rudel, the Glendale Yearound Property Owners Association Inc. was created as a small homeowner association.
